MOMENTUM TO HOST CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

San Jose, California (March 18, 2011) - Momentum for Mental Health is pleased to announce that it will be hosting its 8th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament this year on Monday, June 6, 2011. Proudly presented by The John & Mary Cooper Family Foundation, the tournament will be held at La Rinconada Country Club. Located on approximately 125 acres of rolling hills in the heart of Los Gatos, La Rinconada Country Club boasts an impressive setting for golf in Santa Clara Valley.

The annual charity event provides participants with an opportunity to experience an exceptional day of golfing while supporting Momentum's efforts to provide quality services, raise public awareness of mental health issues and combat the stigma that is associated with mental illness. Despite the recent down economy, the event has consistently attracted over 150 players and guests. While many are long-time supporters of Momentum, each year several new attendees also come out to participate. "It's always nice to see new faces and share the message that people with a mental illness can, and do, recover," says Leslie Barry Connors, Director of Development & Communications at Momentum.

Once again, this year's tournament will be co-chaired by Momentum Board members Larry Burns and Dick Foley. Both have been instrumental in helping to make the events such a success. To date, the tournaments have raised almost $700,000 to directly support Momentum's programs and services. "We've been very fortunate. It seems like funding for mental health is always on the cutting block so events like this can really make a difference in helping our agency to deliver the type of services that are in dire need," says President and CEO, Paul Taylor.

Post-golf activities for the charity event will include a dinner in La Rinconada's lavish clubhouse, a raffle, silent and live auctions, as well as an awards ceremony for the day's top golfers featuring a wide variety of prizes donated by corporate sponsors.
